While watching a movie about some really small people and a dragon that sleeps in gold treasure, I noticed something about this movie that frustrated me more than anything. When the movie was getting to the good part (meaning the dragon was ready to wreck havoc on the nearby town) it ended! When it ended, I just threw my hands up in the air and said, “I can’t believe this!! It’s over!! It cut off just like that!!” This is how our lives are when adversity comes our way. When things start to get tough in our lives, WE CUT OFF!! Proverbs 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Now the movie is a great movie and I look forward to seeing the end of it, but the expectation of the next scene, and the fact that it just stops is more frustrating than anything.
We have to portray a movie that is full of action to grasp the minds and attention of our viewers. We have to give them a little drama (and the drama in our life are the flaws that come up at that opportune time), so they can keep coming back and tuning in to see how things will pan out. We have to give them some romance, so our viewers can stay soft and pliable when it come to having hope in love. We have to give them some documentary, so they can learn from our testimony and get courage to fight for a purpose. And last but not least, we must give them a little horror. The horror is there to scare our viewers from the grasp of sin, so they can live.
Our lives are like a movie that people are watching. The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1-2 that we are compassed about with a great cloud of witnesses, and that we must run this race (paraphrase). We must also finish the race as well because the end of a thing is better than the beginning of it. There is closure when we can finish what God has started in us. There is a level of accomplishment and fulfillment knowing we made it to the end of that particular task which was set before us. Our lives cannot stop when adversity hits us. At the most crucial point of the movie, the credits began to role, and everyone was left hanging. We can’t allow the credits of our life to begin to role before our viewers when we have not completed the movie of our lives. We must press on and complete the work that has been started in us.
- When trials come our way, we cannot quit!
- When obstacles stand before us, we cannot quit!
- When persecution comes because of the WORD, we cannot quit!
- When we think we’re not worthy, we cannot quit!
- No matter how much the dragon (satan) talks, and blows his fiery smoke in our direction, we cannot quit!
The Lord has given the world a trailer of our lives, and many are coming out to see if the movie will get a standing ovation, or some boos. A good movie that finish well will normally get some claps and yells at the end because it finished well. But movies that do not finish well will be talked about for a long time. So, people of God, LET’S FINISH WELL, so the cloud of witnesses can be pleased with the movie of our lives, and this world will have a desire to see more of Christ in us.
