Who Was Let down, God or the People?

As I begin to contemplate the thought of the Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing same sex marriage, I realize some in the body of Christ, as well as, those who still believe in certain Bible principles, have dropped the ball. I will explain what I mean. The Supreme Court makes its decisions based upon the constitution. The Constitution was established to protect all people with their personal rights and beliefs. I have heard some say the Supreme Court has let God down. The question I would ask is, “How did they let God down?

You cannot expect a worldly system to uphold Holy Laws. We have become deceived in our thinking to believe our government opens the Bible and make their decisions based upon what the scripture says. These are men and women who do not fear the Lord, so you cannot expect them to reverence Him, nor His laws. The Supreme Court, along with Congress, is not the Holy hierarchy of the nation. They are not fasting and praying concerning decisions that would be best for this nation. They are not doing any of these things. The Supreme Court is listening to rulings from lower courts and making decisions upon that. Congress is working hard at making “people” happy according to the Constitution which governs the land, and not God.

Now what I will say is this, we have let God down because His word says, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4). This tells me all people in authority are not saved, so we as the body of Christ have to pray for them to do what is right.

If you read your Bible you will see there is nothing new under the sun, and there is nothing new being done because it has already happened before (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10). What we need to do as Christians is begin to show the Love of God, and stop fighting amongst each other. We need to show loving kindness, according to Jeremiah 31:3, and God will draw the people to Him when we lift Him up (John 12:32).

The world is doing what it is supposed do. My next question is, “When is the church going to do what it is supposed to do?” Let’s begin to pray according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, and God will pay attention to us when our prayers reach His throne room, and He will touch the heart of the kings of all nations (Proverbs 21:2). I will leave you with this thought, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

  1. Excellent! You hit the “bull’s eye” dead center! I appreciate that your commentary is a reminder that we(true believers) are NOT of THIS world & the leaders of this world’s system are NOT godly (although some hopfully are). As for the U.S. Constitution, it was designed to provide equal rights regardless of religious persuasion, I we should thank God for that provision. Freedom of speech & religion are important provisions in THIS present world to maintain peace & security (as far as the world can offer). Of course Jesus contrasted that by giving us HIS ever abiding peace! I agree, the church must share THAT rather than debate on the world’s forum where God never had a seat.
