Mark 2:22 (KJV) And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
The keyword in this passage is “must.” The Merriam Webster Dictionary give a definition of must as “used to say that something is required by a rule or law.”
Jesus is telling us that it is required by His Law that an individual cannot receive the newness of the Lord until he/she gets rid of the old. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
We gotta stop telling people the Lord is moving an individual to a new level when the one they are on never left the ground because they are still in sin. Ministers of the gospel (in which we all are called to minister the good news) are living shabby lives and yet we are still declaring new levels, and new anointing in the life of these individuals. Don’t get me wrong because Christ does desire to do these things but he said in Mark 2:21 “No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.”
This passage of Scripture let’s me know that if God drops something new into a person who was not prepared for it will be worse, because the heart, mind, and spirit has not been prepared for the new attachment of his/her life. God is not in the business of ruining your life because that’s what’s gonna happen if He adds His newness to your oldness, however, He is in the business of preserving your life by adding his way into a new creature. Be made new in the life of Christ, and allow Him to birth that new anointing, new level, new revelation, new purpose, new dreams, and new mindset in Him, so you can prosper in the Glory of the Lord.
Until next time, Be Blessed and be made new in Christ
