Lord Do it Again

We all are familiar with Acts chapter 2 in the Bible. Many believe this is an event that took place during that time, and season. If we stay there. we are missing the true essence of God’s Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside of His believers. Let’s lay aside everything which would cause division in our heart, mind, body, and soul, and become one with fellow believers and Christ so we may all be empowered with God’s presence.

God’s Will For You

Prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.            Romans 12:2 NKJV

In order to fulfill God’s will for your life, you’ll have to deal with:

  • What other people want you to be
  • Your boss wanting you to be more productive
  • Your health club wants you to be more fit
  • Your credit card company wants you to be more in debt
  • Your ego and personal ambitions driving you in the wrong direction

Seems like everybody has an agenda for you, and if you spend your life trying to meet their expectations you’ll never be free. Sometimes loving people means having to disappoint them. Seeking to become the person others want you to be is a shallow way to live. Nobody can tell you exactly how to change, because only God knows. Even you can’t tell yourself how to change, because you didn’t create yourself.

To love someone is to desire and work toward their becoming the best possible version of themselves. And the one person in the entire universe who’s qualified to do this is God. Unlike people, God has no hidden agenda or unmet needs He’s hoping you can help Him with. He knows what the best version of you look like. He delights in the very idea of it, and is already working to bring it to fruition in your life.

The Bible says, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28 NIV). That means God is at work every moment to help you become His best version of you. And you’ll only be truly free when you make up your mind to be happy about being the person God meant you to be-the one He’s working on every day.

Shift

My first car was a standard, and I purchased it because I knew that many people didn’t know how to drive one. If anyone would ask to drive the car I would say, “If you can drive a standard you can drive my car.” I went on like this for a while until I got tired of taking people all over the place. I soon got tired of being a taxi and taking people everywhere and realized it was time for me to teach others how to “SHIFT.”

Shift means to change or to cause (something) to change to a different opinion, or belief. It is our responsibility to help others shift into their proper place in Christ. Not everyone can get out of that first gear like they should, but if we are patient with them through the erking and jerking of life; they will make it.

Once a person get past first gear with a smooth transition, they are on the road to driving with ease. Once that individual has learned how to shift properly, he/she can be on a hill at a standstill, and move forward without moving backwards and hitting someone. That confidence level is built up, and shifting becomes easy over time, and there is no thought required on what gear is next. Our confidence is built up by trusting in God’s word, and obeying His every command.

Let’s learn how to shift, so we can reach the speed and potential that Christ is desiring us to reach. If we do not shift at the right time, we can burn our clutch and tear up the car. Let’s not get burnt out and break down our spiritual cars by not shifting when it’s time for us to move to our next position in Christ.

Be Blessed!!!!!

Submission

Submission is a word that make many people cringe at the very thought of it. It is a strong profane word (at least some think that it is) that is used in the body of Christ, and people that have pit bull, independent like mentalities (I will discuss these mentalities in the next addition) may consider this word to be a ploy for control. I do not believe that the Lord intended for His people to be controlled through the shallow insecurities of man that dwell among the Earth, but instead He intended for us to conform to His will through willful submission. This form of submission is a way of conforming to The Will of God first, and then everything else will fall in place. 2 Corinthians 8:5. According to the Webster’s 1913 Dictionary, the word submit, is another means of conforming. This type of conforming means to be in accord or harmony; to comply; to be obedient. The reason why this word is fought so much within the body of Christ is because the devil knows that when we learn how to walk in harmony, and agreement with the Will of God willfully, his kingdom will be destroyed. This is why the scripture says that a kingdom divided against itself will not stand. Mark 3:23-26.

In Acts 2 the Holy Ghost fell because those in the room were in agreement (accord) with one another, and this agreement was a result of many people coming to Christ. There are places in the scripture like Matthew 18:19 that mention the Lord showing up in the midst because the people are walking in agreement (accord) with each other. In order for us to walk together, there must be agreement, (Amos 3:3) and this form of agreement is a conforming (submission) to the will of God.

I can remember when the Lord allowed me to get married, and He told me that He was going to teach me how to submit through my marriage. Now this was a hard pill to swallow for me because I have been independent for a long time, and did not need anyone to do anything for me, but I soon found out how quick this would change. I had to learn patience (still letting this fruit work in me) and temperance. These are fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) that will cause a person to conform to the Will of God, if we submit to God’s Word by focusing on Him, and not what we see in the Earth. Ephesians 5:22 is a scripture that many people get twisted. It says, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” The thing that people miss in this part is that the writer mentioned…….as unto the Lord. If I am not willing to conform to the Will of God by conforming myself to His will, then I will never be able to respect and submit myself to the authority that the Lord has given me to provide, protect, and care for me. Remember 2 Corinthians 8:5 says, “And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and then unto us by the will of God.” Please think about this scripture because “WE” have to give ourselves to the Lord willingly before we can give ourselves to someone else.

Submission must always start with a conforming through agreement, and walking in harmony. This is essential for the body of Christ because your advancement in the Lord is dictated by your submission to the Lord’s Word. He tells us in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Here the Lord is telling us not to walk in harmony with the world, nor to waive your privileges and authority that God has planted in you to the World, but submit to Him, so that we can know what is pleasing in His eyesight.

Submission is a good thing if we do it the way the Lord intended us to.  He did not say that we had to submit to people that we only like because if that was the case He would have never told us in 1 Peter 2:18 to submit not only to the good, but also to the bad. See 1 Peter 2:13-21; Romans 13:1-7. Submission is not just a way of following rules for a show or fashion (Colossians 3:22), but doing all things with a heart that is single and surrendered unto the Lord. Submission is the way and life of a believer, and the heart of a true believer. Submission is done with a heart of purity, a heart of no complaints, a heart of not being seen or magnified, a heart of harmony, a heart of obedience, a heart of agreement, and a heart of true love.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
